Hello – thanks so much for setting up your page on Mahara and adding so much information. It’s fantastic – thank you.  You’ve taken time to curate all the things you are doing into an interesting page – well done. 

It’s great to see the sheer variety of everything you are doing form all the training (lots by the look of it) to the work combining, sorting, as well as opportunities to manage people – this is excellent to deconstructing spam vendors which I have no idea what that means. 

The Careers and Employability Service are keen to host some blogs from the cohort of you about your experiences – is this something you’d be interested in – you could add the videos / photos from your page for example. Anyway let me know what you think.

IT’s great you are record what you are doing every day – you don’t need to do everyday if it becomes repetitive – you can do weekly / 2 weekly updates for example – it’s a personal thing. If you like it as a structure to help you think about what you’ve done that’s good – whatever works for you.

Hello – thanks for all of your weekly updates – it’s fantastic to see that you are getting such a very varied experience at KWS – not only in technical aspects but also the opportunity to work in a multi-cultural environment and acquire cross communication skills.

It’s also really good to see you supporting the PhD students and getting the opportunity to be involved in R&D projects – is there anything to help your final year project do you think?

Is the placement helping you think about what you may be interested in after you graduate or for your final year project?  Can I ask what the most challenging aspect of your work to date is?

Hi Judith,

My final year project has been drilled and growing nicely. I am taking what i have learn't at university and hopefully I will be able to apply it in the field. There is a meeting confirmed in January to discuss further plans with my project.

Working at KWS UK has definitely strengthed my ambitions of obtaining a career in the plant breeding industry, I love the variety of work i get involved in and number of departments I work across. It is a thoroughly enjoyable experience and loving every minute being part of this company.

The most challenging aspect to date would be my time in R&D. I am currently taking part in projects which i know the theory to as i have learnt it at university. But now, I am putting that theory into practice and seeing physical results. Although it may be challenging at times, I have really enjoyed pushing myself and working alongside some great collegues.

Thanks for your final update. It’s excellent to see that you have completed some additional qualifications with your PA courses.  You mention having accountability which is a really good thing to demonstrate evidence for.  I am very pleased that you have made so many connections and that you are now confident at going into the industry after you final year.
